TiE Dallas – January News

January Newsletter

From the President

HELLO EVERYONE,

Can you believe it’s mid-February already?  I hope you had time to check out the 2021 Recap.

January has been a month of planning and deliberations on what we can look forward to the rest of the year.  Our TYE program is in full swing, with the final pitch competition expected to occur at the end of April.  In a related exciting development, the Dallas chapter will be hosting the TYE global finals this year (June 2022).  We are working with TiE Global on the logistics and other details.  TiE University 2022 is going strong, and the Dallas pitch finals will occur at the end of March.  We are excited to see the teams progressing.  TiE Women 2022 is gearing up, and we have pitch events on the TiE Angels front.  Stay tuned for more regarding these programs.

One of the core principles of the TiE organization has been that of ‘giving back.  A lot of our programs inherently contain this objective.  However, going beyond our programs, reflecting on broader philanthropic goals and ideals, and engaging in social entrepreneurship has been a key desire of many in our community and a necessary and relevant topic of discussion for us to engage.   Many of our members, especially Charter Members, are active sponsors of foundations, serve on several charitable organizations, and are involved in the ‘greater good.’  While we respect that many may want to keep these activities private and not talk about them, for those that do want to, we would like to provide a platform to bring greater awareness and interest to such endeavors.  After the recent trip to the TiE Global Summit in Dubai last Dec, I wrote a blog piece on this theme that you may want to check out if and when you have a moment.   Along these lines, Abraham Philips, CM, has an exciting project supporting school kids in Nepal that he would like to share more about at our next event on Thu, Mar 10th, at 6 pm.  Here is a link to register for the zoom event.  If there are more stories like this that you would like to share with our audience, please let me or Kim know, and we will get them on our calendars.

Thank you
Ram
