Develop a Mobile App and impress your friends!
Women in STEM fields earn 33% more than in non-STEM jobs but only 25% of women work in STEM jobs*.
TiE Dallas and Oasis @ AT&T are engaged in the community to address that imbalance! We have partnered with Girl Scouts to present a workshop that will walk you through the basics of developing a mobile app. This is an introductory workshop, and there is no programming background or pre-requisite required. Middle- and high-school age girls are eligible to attend.
The workshop will be a combination of lecture and hands-on training. We will begin with the basics of the internet and mobile apps, introduce students to the Android mobile development environment, cover fun programming exercises, and have practitioners available to talk about careers in the field.
The first workshop is scheduled for Sunday, May12th, at 1-5PM at the Gravity Center, located on the second floor of the AT&T Foundry in Plano.
2900 W Plano Pkwy
Plano, TX 75075
Requirements: The participants will be required to bring their own laptops and chargers. If available, bring your Android devices and USB connectors as well.
If any of the above is not available, please send an email to Sangita Subramanian at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can arrange for sufficient devices for the workshop.
This workshop will continue to be offered multiple times over the summer. Dates for future workshops will be announced soon.
